While there was a debate about restricting mountain biking on popular trails in various regions in Germany, a different approach was made in Miltenberg, a scenic town at river Main between the Spessart and Odenwald. The local forest administration decided to build a dedicated mountain bike trail system together with the local biking community.
The MTB-route combines existing forest roads for uphill sections with purpose built downhill trails that feature berms, jumps and other fun stuff. The trail loop has a length of 25 km (15.5 miles) and an elevation gain of 1000 meters.
On a Saturday we met some volunteers working on the pumptrack section of the trail. They encouraged us to spread the word about the trail, because good usage of the trail would provide a good argument to build further trails…
